We’re delighted to share news of a recent Planning consent for a significant new build dwelling and associated outbuilding adjacent to a notable golf course site in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Acquired with an approved design for a replacement property standing at 335sqm – secured prior to our involvement – we’re pleased to present a complete redesign with successful consent, under a Section 73 application, for an impressive statement home and garaging standing at 565sqm, just shy of a 70% floor area increase to the original design.
The consented design transforms the value of the site and elevates the living experience, while preserving and enhancing the character of the area. The architectural style remains true to the local heritage, staying faithful to the muted Arts and Crafts style of the original two-storey detached dwelling (and former golf club house). Ensuring the new building seamlessly integrates into its surroundings, the design complements the varied topography, offering breathtaking views of the Berkshire Downs to the front, and the adjacent golf club to the rear.
A spacious two-storey home, with large car garaging and accommodation located above, the architectural language of the consented scheme follows the traditional, well-mannered building forms and proportions, typical of an Arts and Crafts style dwelling. Details include a distinctive doubled-gabled façade, catslide roof, large chimneys, and an oriel window, while the carefully curated palette of red brickwork, flint, and clay tile roof, reflect the materials found within the locality.
We’ve been grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the rich history of this area and are excited to see the project come to life. Many thanks as ever to the wider consultation team - in particular, to Planning Consultant, Richard Wyndham-Smith.
