This project was a conversion and extension of a former stable block into an office unit. The design was traditional in style, to match the existing property, using sympathetic materials of exposed internal beams, natural stone and wooden cladding to suit the site and surrounding neighbours. Whilst the extension matched the existing stable in scale and form, contemporary elements of direct glazing and detailing were included to create a modern building rooted in its history. With the use of the roof space, and a carefully-considered furniture layout, open plan workspaces were created, along with a meeting room and other staff facilities which include a small courtyard. This project is a great example of how small spaces and tight sites can be maximised to their full potential.
