We were appointed to design a comprehensive refurbishment to an existing, non-historic extension attached to a traditional cottage nestled in a secluded, sloping site in Boars Hill. The design adopted a contemporary approach to create an obvious contrast to the existing cottage.

A key part of the client’s brief was to improve the relationship between the house and the surrounding landscape, with large expanses of glazing opening out from the living areas to a series of carefully articulated terraces and courtyards. In addition, the new first floor Master Bedroom offers triple aspect views over the surrounding woodland.
