The Boathouse

Following a tragic electrical fire at the original property, AOA are pleased to have secured planning consent on a replacement dwelling in the Henley area.

AOA’s brief was to reimagine the original boathouse in a sympathetic yet contemporary manner to provide a new single family dwelling adjacent to the River Thames, which would take advantage of the unique site’s stunning views and location. As part of the design, the proposal could also address some of the issues that arose with the existing building, by lifting it from the flood plain and increasing flood plain capacity in the process for the betterment of the site and surrounding area.

The overall form, and carefully selected palette of materials, refer to the original building and help tie the proposal into the overall context of the AONB in which it sits, whilst contemporary detailing and design principles embrace modern living.
