The project involved the transformation of a Grade 2 Listed farmhouse and adjoining Listed stone barns into 5 unique homes, set within extensive landscaped grounds, offering stunning views of the surrounding fields and the Oxford Spires beyond. The synergy of the 17th Century Architecture and the 21st Century restoration has created a sympathetic development that retains the site's special character.
We were appointed as Architects and Contract Administrators to carry out the conversion, extension and rebuilding of a group of Farm Buildings at Chilswell Farm Boars Hill. The project also involved the alteration and complete refurbishment of a Grade II Listed Farmhouse. Chilswell Farm was washed over by the Green Belt and the removal of a number of large dilapidated steel frame agricultural barns revealed a small number of traditional stone built barns which also formed part of the Listing. The traditional barns were sensitively converted and extended to form a group of 5 dwellings harmoniously assimilated in to the rural landscape.
