Set within the South Oxfordshire village of Stoke Row. Woodside Cottage is a new dwelling which sits within the rear garden of an existing dwelling with Victorian origin. The proposal is also within a close proximity to a large collection of farm buildings.
The design responds to the mixture of architectural styles and the complex neighbourly relationships. Consequently, the proposal combines the principles of the more traditional domestic architecture and the simpler forms of the adjacent agricultural buildings. Furthermore, to ensure high levels of natural light, the traditional architectural elements have been combined with large areas of glazing on the principal elevations, creating a fresh contemporary style.
