Grade II Listed Alteration & Extension Scheme

Located within a notable Grade II Listed Conservation Area, on a heavily constrained site with restrictive boundary walls, a gated driveway and property placed immediately in front, and the potential for overlooking in multiple directions, this unique home – made up of two adjoining properties – required a particularly delicate design scheme and careful Planning negotiations for the considerable extension and alterations that were secured.

Working closely with our client, the brief included increasing the living accommodation, enlarging the formerly very compact kitchen, and providing an extra bedroom, with a sizeable extension and side garden – replacing a dilapidated 1970’s garage – and increasing the height of the boundary wall, to infill with one and two storey extensions to the rear, in place of the previously damp and dark courtyard.

Crittall glazing and roof lights from Cotswold Casements – positioned over the single storey extension –flood the new kitchen space with natural light, while a beautiful open plan kitchen / family room from Kitchen Architecture – which opens out onto a peaceful courtyard garden – perfectly connects indoor and outdoor spaces.
