This week marked a significant moment as we gathered on site to celebrate the groundbreaking of Delamere’s new £30m purpose-built addiction treatment and behavioural health centre in Bestwood, Nottingham.
With all pre-commencement conditions cleared, construction is now underway — a major step forward in realising a scheme that responds to a critical and increasingly visible need for more thoughtful, human-centred approaches to recovery.
As architects, it’s incredibly rewarding to see the project move from vision and planning into delivery. Informed by Delamere’s ambition and a shared belief that environment plays a fundamental role in recovery, the scheme balances clinical excellence with a calm, domestic character — supporting dignity, privacy and long-term wellbeing.
Set within 4.7 hectares of landscaped grounds, the 32-bed facility is arranged as a series of interconnected buildings and courtyards, stepping with the natural topography to create a restorative, human-scale environment. Spaces such as quiet reading rooms, therapy suites, a café and wellness areas are carefully integrated throughout — offering moments of retreat, connection and reflection that support a holistic approach to care.
This milestone marks both the beginning of construction and Delamere’s expansion beyond Cheshire, extending their model of compassionate, evidence-led treatment to reach more individuals, families and communities. We’re proud to be part of the team delivering this project, and look forward to seeing it evolve on site over the coming months.
