This project involved the significant restoration of a 4-storey townhouse. The aim was to reinstated the villa to its former single dwelling, after it had been compartmentalised into separate flats some 30 years ago. The design looked to combine both its historical features and layout with the needs of a 21st century family living within the property. A garden studio and terrace were designed in a contemporary style that is sympathetic to the period property, using render to match the main property and glazing.
The building is located within the North Oxford Victorian Suburb Conservation Area and it is a Grade II listed building, and so a careful and sensitive scheme was designed, which was critical in obtaining planning approval.
