The practice was commissioned to design a luxury contemporary family home on a restricted site, nestled within the curtilage of a substantial detached dwelling. The result is a striking new dwelling located on a picturesque private lane within the South Oxfordshire village of Sutton Courtenay.
The bespoke building combines a flat roof and cantilevered building elements to maximise the floor area. The external wall forming the northern façade of the building doubles as an attractive boundary separating the new and existing properties, whilst large expanses of glazing to the south ensure all living spaces take advantage of the building's orientation, creating light airy rooms.
The generous areas of glass connect the occupants with the garden and offer uninterrupted views of the nearby trees. Now complete, this house is a perfect example of what can be achieved on a small plot of land.
